DCIM specialist Nlyte Software describes Nlyte Discovery as a full solution application set that automatically collects and provides detailed information about all devices connected to an organisation’s network.

It is said to include the tools and technology necessary to visualise and manage the results of discovered hardware, configuration, services/processes and applications/software information.

According to the firm, Discovery can scan across all major protocols and operating systems to provide a single application, holistic view of all data centre and colo infrastructure assets (including hardware, software, configuration, networking devices).

Nlyte says the platform features “robust” reporting and data normalisation capabilities across varying file structures. It offers reconciliation with connected Infrastructure (CMDB, Asset Management, Service Desk), as well as asset reconciliation of current versus historical information.

The company claims Discovery improves an organisation’s operational efficiency by providing more accurate and timely information about all the assets within its computing infrastructure.

IT personnel can use the automated discovery and reporting of all networked assets to help identify zombie servers and/or ‘unknown’ assets, as well as capture critical information about firmware patches and software. Nlyte says all this will also help identify potential cyber security vulnerabilities.
