Established in 1990, Aberforth Partners LLP are a leading fund management organisation located in Edinburgh. Providing institutional investors with a high level of resources focussed exclusively on small UK quoted companies, Aberforth's funds under management are approximately £1.6 billion. Having operated from its HQ in Edinburgh for some years, Aberforth identified the need to replace its existing network infrastructure with a cabling system that facilitated the planned evolution of its IT systems.
As the office is a converted four storey Georgian town house, Aberforth Partners were conscious that any new cabling work required would be a challenging exercise and could also have an impact on the business’ operational capability.
Bearing both the construction challenges and Aberforth Partners' operational requirements in mind, Boston Networks carried out an extensive survey of the building where both re-cabling and replacing the cabling with an alternative wireless LAN solution were considered.
Following the extensive evaluation, Aberforth Partners decided to deploy a new Category 6 structured cabling system. This solution not only upgraded the infrastructures backbone but it also allowed Boston Networks to upgrade the electrical and telephony infrastructure simultaneously.
