Sepura has been chosen by the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) to provide a complete digital communications solution for its flagship garden at Wisley in Surrey.
The Cambridge-based specialist is working in conjunction with its sales partner Chatterbox on the deployment which uses TETRA critical communications technology. The system aims to boost visitor safety, security and facility management procedures across the 240 acre site.
The implementation comprises Sepura’s MBS Lite base stations, more than 200 SC2024 hand-portable radios, and a dispatcher application with voice recording and GPS mapping.
Chatterbox MD Gary Leatherby claims the solution is a “superb fit” for RHS Wisley and the daily operational challenges faced by its staff.
He says: “In user evaluations, the SC2024 scored the highest: audio is loud and crystal-clear – even in high-noise environments – while its rugged, lightweight design with IP68 environmental protection makes it ideal for outdoor use in all weather conditions.”
Wisley saw more than a million visitors in 2015, and further expansion that includes a new science centre, visitor hub and knowledge bank are already under way. As a result, it needed a flexible solution to keep pace with its evolving requirements, providing clear communication along with safety features such as ‘Lone Worker’ and ‘Man-Down’.
Sepura says additional functionalities on its radio system, such as ‘Emergency Button’, ‘Priority Call’ and GPS, will help to improve response times, instantly alerting first aid and security teams to incidents and their location.
