Claranet buys Ardenta to strengthen managed hosting offering

19 July 2016

Managed services provider (MSP) Claranet has acquired Ardenta for an undisclosed sum.

Surrey-based Ardenta specialises in the management of e-commerce systems, with a particular expertise in high-volume transactional database management.

Claranet believes this expertise will complement its growing application management capabilities, as well help customers improve their services using infrastructure on their own premises or in the cloud.

Established in 2001, Ardenta has annual revenues of £6 million and works with a wide range of sectors. It has a particular focus on media and e-gaming, and includes the BBC, ITV, Ladbrokes and William Hill among its customers.

The company’s co-founders, Neil Truby and Scott Hanson, will work alongside Claranet’s senior management team to integrate the business and foster continued growth.

“The move will allow us to capitalise on the economies of scale that moving into a larger company affords,” says Truby. “Our customers will benefit from one of the widest portfolio of integrated IT services anywhere in Europe, as well as the considerable expertise accrued from Claranet’s 20 year history.”

This latest acquisition represents the latest in a line of strategically-important deals Claranet has made over the past two years across Europe.

These include UK-based firms Bashton, LinuxIT and Techgate, as well as various hosting providers in France, Portugal, the Netherlands, amongst others. Just last week it announced its buyout of France-based MSP Diademys.

The company adds that it now has annualised group revenues of £200 million, more than 1,200 staff, and more than 5,700 customers in the UK, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain and Portugal.
